This custom 1988 GMC S15 is available in our Louisville KY showroom. The S15 was GMC’s version of the S10 which was a light truck that sold very well from 1983 to 1990. Many of these trucks were used as platforms in the mini truck world, a term used for lowered customized light trucks popular in the early 90’s. This example is a one owner low mileage truck that had a ton of custom work done over the years. Stat with the body and paint, the custom front end gives it a sporty style while making it appear even lower. The paint on the truck is custom and typical of what you would see done in that era. The top was cut off making this little s15 a convertible with its removable hardtop. The wheels on the truck are Dayton’s, the original spoke wheel used on many low riders. The gold spokes are clean and with these being true knock off’s that spinner is not just for looks. Under the custom louvered hood, the original engine still runs great and with it being the 2.5 liter does great on gas. The manual transmission shifts out great with the clutch still having a great feel. Inside the interior has been customized as well with the bucket seats having a velour material making them soft to the touch. The white Grant steering wheel is a great touch with the full size panoramic rear-view mirror really putting an exclamation point on the build. The Reatta was manufactured in a highly specialized assembly program called the Reatta Craft Center. Rather than a typical assembly line, the car was assembled at a series of stations and moved around from station to station by robots. Additionally PPG was subcontracted to perform all the paintwork under the same roof. With a mere 111,685 miles on the odometer that the owner claims are actual, the 3800 V6 engine is just starting to stretch its legs and hit its stride. Pumping out an impressive 165hp and 210 lb ft of torque on a platform weighing in at 3,377 lbs, there of plenty of pep in its step. This Reatta is finished in silver paint with gray leather interior and has more storage compartments inside than you can shake a stick at.
