If you’re in a Long Island based car club (or from Queens & Brooklyn) you should get to know the Long Island Car Club Council.  The LICCC was formed around 1990.  It was formed initially for the purpose of avoiding conflicts of car club sponsored shows on the same dates in the same area. When putting your car back together, whether you’re a restorationist or a hot rodder, invariably you need some very specific hardware from time to time. Where do you find this stuff for a 50 plus year old car?

I came across a source today as I was searching for OEM style electrical connectors for behind my Bel Air’s starter switch (where the key goes). I thought many of you would benefit from this resource so I’m sharing the website here.

My ’65 Bel Air – Part 3 – Rims, Tires, & Alternator

The Bel Air came with 14 inch rims mounted with 205-75R-14’s. These tires had those token white wall stripes that were so common in the 60’s and 70’s. Not only didn’t I care for the token white wall look but also I didn’t feel the tires filled the wheel wells properly. I decided to upgrade to black wall 15 inch tires that filled the wheel wells better.

I had four 15 inch rims laying around from previous cars. I upgraded to Cooper Cobra’s: 215-60R-15’s up front and 225-60R-15’s out back, which were about 1.25” larger in diameter. …

I was perusing the Wikipedia story of the Chevy Malibu and came across this odd little car. It’s a base model 4 door 1981 Malibu with a few important options. This car was theoretically intended to be used as taxi’s in Iraq. For this order, 25,500 were made with carbureted V-6’s, 3 speed manual transmissions, and bench seats.They also came with heavy duty cooling systems, air conditioning and the heavy duty F41 sport suspensions.
